My dear sweet Talon,
Dude, you are growing up so fast. 9 months. You're almost walking now. You stood up with minimal help today and hovered on your two little wobbly legs for a few seconds. Dads thinks you were surprised at yourself then plopped back down to the floor.
What a crazy year. Dads started a new job right before you were born and is about to embark on another new journey (teaching 4th grade) this fall. He started Amazing Times all while working full time and being a fantastic dad/husband.
I'm thinking of training for a physique competition. It's not quite body building; a little softer look. First and foremost, I need to have a consistent 13 weeks ahead of me. I will learn how to prepare, to train specifically for this type of contest, and the ins and outs. It won't be easy. Everything you want will be worth the work. You'll find things don't always come easy and sometimes they do. When the going gets tough, remember what you want, and keep going. A desire for change fuels motivation.
Oh crap! You just shut your arm in a drawer....! Okay, you're fine. You're playing with a piece of paper now on the floor...
A friend of mine posted on Facebook yesterday how her daughter came home and said that a girl kicked her in the back while she was at her locker at school. Talon, if anyone ever does anything like that to you, you have our permission to kick the shit out of them. You will not be in trouble at home for defending yourself. It's unfortunate schools discipline kids for defending themselves when the bully was the one who started the conflict. What else should a kid do? Take it? Hell no. But hopefully you won't ever have to worry about that. We will teach you to fight fair, fight only when necessary, and to not be a bully. Kids who are bullies have parents who are bullies. Sad, but true.
Love,
Your Mommy who will teach you how to punch.

that kid is so lucky to have you!
