As the little fruit ticker shows, currently I am almost 33 weeks pregnant. We're in the home stretch. Sometimes it feels surreal, sometimes I'm ready to get this baby out of me, sometimes I just sit and watch my stomach move and marvel in the moment.
I admit I have my moments where I'm ready to have this baby. From a previous injury exacerbated by the burden of pregnancy, my left ankle is a mess. I "got a little grade 1 edema" (to quote friends & master nurses Kim and Sara). And I am NOT someone who complains about or has chronic pain but it's a little ridiculous. I know it'll subside but damn! I got 2 more months of this? The amount of swelling is only due to how much I am walking on it. It is asymmetrical (compared to my right ankle's level of swelling) so it's not an indicator of anything related to a pregnancy complication. A day of shopping? I'm limping to the couch when I get home. Spend a day with my feet up? It's not so bad. My body is totally telling me to slow down so I will listen. My brain? Not so much. I stopped teaching my kickboxing classes about 2 weeks ago and I'm going crazy! I am just as excited to get back at it as everyone else is.
UPDATE FROM Amy, my fab OBGYN
I had a 32 week ultrasound to measure T's actual (as close as they can get) growth. I had been measuring ahead in fundal height for weeks and weeks so they wanted to check.
He is measuring around 34 1/2 weeks though chronologically I was 32 1/2 weeks. This is common and doesn't necessarily mean he'll come early. But they estimate he is already around 5.1 lbs. An average 30 week old baby? 2.8lbs. T's foot is 7.2cm. Average 30 week old baby? 6cm. Heartbeat? A strong 133bpm. I am carrying AMPLE amounts of fluid. He's hanging out comfy as a bug in a rug. The best news is: he's head down. I know he could possibly flip but I think it's unlikely. I don't have a picture to show you because I didn't get a CD of the images. If you can imagine: his head is down and facing my right side, his spine is along my left side, one foot is up in my ribs, the other little foot is in front of his face (along with his hands).
Tank Vaughan Zook ain't gonna be no small tater.
