To the little gentleman inhabiting my body: Wear your sunscreen.
Through my 33 years, I have learned a few things. Take it or leave it. You are free to experience things for yourself. But some things we've experienced ourselves and if we can save you some heartache, wouldn't that be nice. Your parents are a little weird. So, it's ok if you are a little weird, too.
Be picky about who you call a friend. The cool kids aren't cool anywhere but in your own head. A good group of friends won't spread a rumor about you, steal your favorite pencil out of your desk, or base how much they like you on how much candy you gave them that day. Hang with the person who tells the entire birthday party they refuse to be a part of hiding your belongings in the freezer while you are using the bathroom.
Don't crush on just anyone either. If you ever like someone and they tell you they like you back with the amount of their "one finger", dump their ass. (Mommy had a little boy tell her this in first grade.) They ain't worth your time nor energy. There's no official wait time for calling someone you like. Call them if you like them. If they play mind and heart games with you, move on and don't look back no matter how cute they may be.
Keep quiet when the teacher is talking. They'll say something you may need to know. If you decide to talk and they tell you to "shut your face", shut your face. Don't expect any sympathy from me. Get help when you don't understand something. Study your notes, take school seriously, and ask questions. If the professor is rude or impatient towards you, tell them to suck it up because your parents are paying their mortgage. Learning is a job that requires effort. You will get as far in life as much as you decide to learn.
Treat your body with respect. What you put in it, what you put on it, and who you let touch it, matters. You only have one and if you destroy it or abuse it, it will retaliate. Then you won't have anywhere to live. There are no takebacks. Lift weights and make your heart beat fast at least three times a week. It'll make you feel good.
Smile as much as you can. Stand up straight and walk with your chin high. People respond to confidence and you just might get what you want.
Don't complain about what your mom and dad make you for dinner. Nor when they serve vegetables on your plate. Vegetables keep your colon healthy. And for now, that's all you have to know.
When you start driving a car, and you get stuck in the driveway in the snow, don't rev the engine until you blow out the transmission. In other words, control your temper to avoid creating more trouble.
Love something so much it helps you get up in the morning. Legos or ladybugs, drawing or dolls, flying or frogs, playing in dirt or in dresses, building forts or learning the craft of blowing stuff up. You won't find passion in everyone. They're either afraid to show it or they are on vacation and just decided to visit Earth.
Show your emotions. Know when to spill it and when to save for later. You might worry about what someone else will think but they are worried about the exact same thing. Fear controls a lot of things in this world, unfortunately. Unless we all become Professor X, we can't read your mind. Help when you can and do what you can. Don't say yes to everything. You'll go crazy.
You are allowed to cry when you're in true pain. Crying is not a sign of weakness no matter what anyone tells you. If you meet someone who tells you they never ever cry, they aren't human and I'm not sure I want you hanging around them. Cry when your heart gets broken (yes, it will get broken and I'm sorry). Cry when you jump down those 4 steps and break your leg. Cry when you don't have any words for how mad you feel. Allow yourself that time then dry your tears and spend your time healing.
Your mom will teach you how to punch. Use it when only absolutely necessary. Be able to give a decent reason why you chose to hit them. If the shoe fits, how can anyone argue with you.
Despite the fact that we all are taught to not judge, it is an innate characteristic in humans to judge each other. You'll make a judgement but before you decide to not get to know them, get to know them. Maybe they'll surprise you.
Watch your mom and dad. Tell us when we're wrong and why you think so. We will want to spend so much of our time with you. Close your door when you need room to breathe. Don't let Vader outside alone. He'll get eaten by a coyote or worse. Your dad loves that cat more than Tikki.

This is so awesome. And so are you. Love you!
