I realized last night I haven't said much about Jason. He is partly responsible for this situation...
He is absolutely, unequivocally, undoubtedly going to be the best dad EVER! I joke that our kid will be well-behaved only because of him! I know I will learn a tip or two.
He's a third grade teacher and in my opinion, quite legendary. He literally has 1st graders come up to him in the hallways and tell him they want to be in his class. Parents request him for their children. Middle schoolers come back to visit and say, "The rest of school just hasn't been the same since you were my teacher." Principals tell him they want to "bottle him". He is just. that. good. Jason Zook ain't no textbook teacher. They don't teach you the shit that he does in teacher school. Call him "out of the box", I call it "knows what the fuck he's doing and ya'll better take notes." :)
He gets it. Kids. He just gets kids. He connects with them and values their opinion. He would rather hang out with a group of kids than a group of some adults any day. Might sound weird, but ask any of my friends who have kids. He makes quite an impression on them. We'll go to friends' houses and you can count on that Jason will be playing Legos with the kids, throwing them (safely) in the air, and making them laugh until they cry.
Jason is consistent and a leader. Sometimes he will resist "leading" but at his core, he's fucking good at it. Through humor and education, he keeps his students active and their minds busy. He understands the pedagogy/psychology behind why day in and day out, kids REQUIRE routine. He sees the results of that role has in a child's life. He can recognize the children of parents who provide no structure at home.
J-Balls would totally have this kid now if he could. I would too! He would be a stay-at-home dad if the opportunity ever arose and would be damn good at it. I can't wait to see him holding the little Squirt.
Spring break is the big week we appointed for OPERATION: BABY ZOOK ROOM. Pictures will be posted....

YAY to J-Balls....and I am one that can attest to the draw that he has to kids...my 1st grade son has already put in his request to go to Longmont to Jason's school when he is in first grade. He will be a natural! (but please do get video of the first diaper changing experience, I hear that will be a new one for him!)
